Most of Bob Nutzhorn’s life has been involved in Christian education, beginning in second grade. In 1997 Bob graduated from Maranatha Baptist University with a Bachelor of Arts in Church Ministries and an emphasis in Youth Ministry. While still in college, Bob was hired as a Youth Pastor by a church that also had a Christian school, and his wife Tammy began her teaching career there.
In 1998 Bob and Tammy moved to western Illinois, to the small farm community of Altona, to pastor Bethany Baptist Church. As they started their family, Tammy began teaching middle school at East Moline Christian School, and Bob began substitute teaching.
In 2006 the Nutzhorns moved their young daughters Ashleigh and Jamie to Galesburg Christian School. The first year Bob served on the school board, and the following year Tammy began teaching at GCS. In 2012, Bob was hired as the administrator of Galesburg Christian School while maintaining his role as pastor in Altona.
With his caring spirit, hard work and engaging smile, Bob is much loved by teachers, staff, students and GCS families. His skills as a Teacher, Pastor, Administrator and Leader make him an outstanding role model to all who know him. Under Bob’s leadership, GCS has grown from 69 students in 2012 to a current enrollment of 140 students. And unfailingly, Bob gives God the glory for all He has done!
I love hearing from families when we have made a huge impact in the life of their child. I just received an email last night from a parent who has seen a complete transformation in her daughter in just a few months at GCS. It makes all the work worthwhile when we see a parent who feels like they have finally found a place for their child to thrive!
